Common pots: Workshop on eradication of violence against women

23 - March - 2023

Common pots have become an essential ally in the fight against food insecurity in the poorest areas of Peru. They are popular initiatives where women from the same neighborhood and with limited resources meet every day to share the food they gather and cook it together in order to meet, at least in part, the nutritional needs of their families.

In Lima, their expansion increased with greater force since the 1980s. They settled in peripheral areas, where the economic crisis and migration from the Andes due to terrorism generated deep levels of poverty.

As part of Hernández & Cía.’s commitment to prevent, sanction and eradicate violence against women, on March 22 we offered a workshop for the leaders of some of the common pots in El Agustino, one of the poorest districts of the capital. The meeting was led by our lawyer Adriana Tagle and allowed us to discuss what types of violence against women exist, how we can eradicate it and how we should react in each case.

In addition, we organized an internal campaign to raise funds and goods to contribute to these common pots.
