In 2008, as a sign of our commitment to access to justice in Peru, we signed the Pro Bono Declaration for the American Continent. Our partner Javier de Belaunde was a member of the Drafting Committee of this declaration, promoted by the Cyrus Vance Center of the New York Bar Association (USA). In this international document, the signatory law firms agreed to provide free legal services (pro bono) to people or communities in situations of legal poverty or social vulnerability, as well as to the organizations that assist them.
With our pro bono commitment, we aspire to contribute to making Peru a little fairer every day.
Recently, in order to enhance the scope of our mission, we became members of the Pro Bono Peru Alliance. This non-profit organization of recognized international prestige promotes and articulates the pro bono work of Peruvian legal professionals and more than 200 civil society organizations that pursue altruistic purposes.
Our commitment is that each lawyer of the Firm performs a minimum of 20 pro bono hours per year. We offer this work under the same standards of professional quality with which we provide our paid legal services.
As part of this work, we have provided sponsorship and advice to LGBTI+ individuals and organizations, the OLI Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce of Indigenous Peoples of Peru, the San Francisco de Asis Children’s Refectory, the NGO ConJuntos, among other individuals, groups, and organizations with public interest activities.
